Sombo M. Chundaadmin
Sombo M. Chunda is a Ph.D. student in the. L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond. She is a trained accountant, fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and holds an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University. Her research interests focus on women economic empowerment, nonprofits, and financial transparency.
Prior to pursuing her graduate studies, Sombo worked as country representative in Zambia for the Swedish international nonprofit, Diakonia. At Diakonia, Sombo raised funding in excess of $2.5million to continue operations in Zambia.
Sombo believes that the youth are the leaders today, and tomorrow. Because of this belief, she made deliberate decisions to work with youth focused organizations and has worked on various initiatives aimed at supporting and inspiring youth.
Sombo has received many awards including the Walter W. Mode scholarship for a distinguished record of public service at international level awarded by the American Society for Public Administration. She is alumna of the Mandela Washington Fellowship program, and the University of Oxford-Said Business School’s Oxford Impact Investing Programme.
